How to run sales prospecting and outbound from Grok Bot

Quick answer

Grok Bot can add a custom MCP server as a Remote HTTPS plugin. Add OXYGEN's server at https://oxygen-agent.com/mcp, sign in with OAuth, and your Bot can research accounts, build and enrich lists, draft and run email and LinkedIn sequences, and update the CRM in one workspace. Previews are free; sends and paid steps wait for your approval and are priced in credits.

What Grok Bot is, and where GTM work fits

Grok Bot gives you Bots that persist: each has a name, a job and context that builds up over time, and works on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, a filesystem and a terminal, so work continues while your laptop is closed. It is included with every paid individual Cursor plan and the Cursor Teams plan, you can link a SuperGrok subscription, and under The X Subscription it comes with the Premium, Super and Ultra plans.

Its own use-case page starts with a Sales Outbound Bot: research the accounts in a CRM view, score them against your ICP and recent intent, find up to three contacts per account, draft email and LinkedIn outreach, skip anyone already in an active sequence, and return a review list without sending or enrolling anyone. Then, once the output is reliable, a nightly routine that stops at the review list.

That prompt assumes the Bot can reach a CRM, a lead source, an email finder and a sequencer. OXYGEN is that workspace in one connector, so the review list, the enrichment, the sequence and the CRM record are the same data instead of four tools the Bot clicks through.

How Grok Bot connects to a custom MCP server

Grok Bot calls connectors plugins. You install them from Connect apps in the sidebar, authenticate in your browser when asked, and type @ in chat to attach one to a task. Installed connectors are account-wide, so every Bot on your account can use them.

The Team Bots page lists two kinds of custom MCP server a Bot can carry. A Remote HTTPS server uses the Bot's own credential, or each person's own sign-in when the server uses OAuth. A Command server runs on the computer the conversation uses, and the docs say to choose Remote HTTPS for a custom server that needs secrets. OXYGEN's server is remote and uses OAuth, so it is the Remote HTTPS kind, and on a Team Bot each teammate signs in once and works as themselves.

On a Cursor team, Grok Bot follows the team's connector policy. Admins set which servers members can use from the Team Marketplace on the dashboard's Plugins & MCPs page, Enterprise teams can also keep an MCP allowlist, and a blocked server shows as Disabled by team admin. Grok Bot's docs show where a Team Bot's plugins live (its Setup section, or by asking the Bot in chat) but print no separate click path for adding a custom server to a personal Bot, so the steps below ask the Bot in chat.

What OXYGEN gives your Bot to work with

OXYGEN is one GTM workspace an assistant operates through its hosted MCP server. It holds a CRM (companies, people, deals and objects you define, a deals pipeline and an activity timeline), tables you edit like a spreadsheet with enrichment and AI columns, email waterfalls across 17 providers and phone waterfalls across 13, charged only when one finds the value, sequences that mix email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp steps, and one inbox for the replies.

Because those parts share one record per lead, the joins are already made. A reply on LinkedIn stops the email steps for that lead, the replier is filed as a person on the CRM, and a lead you enriched last month is not paid for twice. Every run the Bot starts shows up in the web app with its cost, results and a link, so a teammate who never opens Grok Bot can see what happened.

  • Account research: hiring, funding, news and tech stack for a target account, written onto the company record.
  • Building lists: people and company searches by title, industry, headcount and location, saved into a table.
  • Enriching lists: work emails and phone numbers through waterfalls, plus AI columns that score fit or write a first line.
  • Writing sequences: email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp steps in one sequence, with branches and up to 26 versions of a step.
  • Updating the CRM: records, notes and tasks, with replies landing on each person's timeline.
  • Reading replies: one inbox across email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, with AI triage and drafted answers to review.

Approvals before sends and paid steps, on both sides

On the OXYGEN side, previews and dry runs make no provider calls and spend nothing. A paid provider call, an AI or enrichment column run, a live workflow call, CRM sync, LinkedIn engagement or pushing leads into an external campaign refuses to run until it carries an approval, and anything with a price also needs a credit ceiling. Starting a sequence needs approval too, plus a cap on live sends when it has email, WhatsApp or CRM-task steps. Enrolling leads is free, and an active sequence contacts new leads on its next tick under its launch approval, so enroll into a draft until you are ready.

On the Grok Bot side, an action that needs approval shows its operation and inputs with Allow once, Always allow or Deny. Grok Bot's FAQ suggests narrow Ask first rules for sending, publishing, deleting, purchasing or changing production systems, and you write them under Settings, Bot, Auto-review, Custom Rules. An approval raised by work that started without you, such as a routine, expires after about ten minutes and the action does not run.

Use both. OXYGEN's gate is a parameter the Bot sets after you agree, so an Ask first rule for OXYGEN's live steps puts the card in front of you before the Bot sets it.

Routines: what to schedule, and where to stop

A Grok Bot routine tells one Bot when to run a workflow, on a schedule with a time zone or after a supported event, and posts the result in that Bot's conversation. Grok Bot's guidance is to make a one-time task reliable, save it as a skill with its approval rules, and only then automate it.

For GTM that maps to read-and-prepare work: a weekday routine that checks new replies in OXYGEN's inbox, lists accounts that showed a signal, or refreshes a table of new hires at target accounts, then stops at a review list in chat. Keep launches, sends and paid enrichment as attended steps, since an unattended approval expires before you see it.

Grok Bot, Grok chat and Grok Build add MCP servers differently

Searches for grok mcp mix three products. Grok chat on grok.com adds a custom MCP connector from grok.com/connectors: New Connector, then Custom, then the server URL and any sign-in; the server must be reachable over the public internet, and on Grok Business and Enterprise a team admin provisions connectors first. Grok Build, the terminal tool, adds remote servers with grok mcp add --transport http followed by a name and a URL, and handles OAuth in the browser on first use.

Grok Bot is the third: custom servers are plugins, as described above. OXYGEN's endpoint is the same URL in all three, https://oxygen-agent.com/mcp. This page covers Grok Bot because it is the one built for standing jobs like outbound.

Connect OXYGEN to Grok Bot

  1. On a Cursor team, have the server permitted

Ask your Cursor team admin to allow it in the Team Marketplace on the dashboard's Plugins & MCPs page. On Enterprise, the admin also adds this URL to the MCP allowlist if the team uses one.

    https://oxygen-agent.com/mcp
  2. Add OXYGEN as a Remote HTTPS server

Paste this into your Bot's chat and check the URL before you agree. On a Team Bot, the owner or a manager can add it from the Bot's Setup section under Plugins instead.

Add a custom MCP server called oxygen, Remote HTTPS, at https://oxygen-agent.com/mcp
  3. Sign in with OAuth

Choose Authorize or Authenticate on the card and finish the OXYGEN sign-in in your browser. The server registers the client itself, so no API key goes into chat. Check that oxygen shows under Installed in Connect apps.

  4. Check the connection

Read-only and free. If your account has more than one organization, ask the Bot to call oxygen_orgs_select with the org slug; OXYGEN remembers that choice for this client.

Call oxygen_whoami and tell me my user and the active organization.
  5. Route your first goal

Also free. It returns ranked tools, each flagged read_only, paid and in_core, so the Bot knows which tool to call and whether it costs credits.

Call oxygen_capabilities_search for "build a list of RevOps leaders and find their work emails".
  6. Add Ask first rules

In Settings, Bot, turn on Auto-review and add a rule under Custom Rules, so live OXYGEN steps reach you as an approval card first.

Ask first before any oxygen tool call that starts a sequence, sends a message or spends credits.

Prompts to try, and what OXYGEN does

  • Research a target account

Using @oxygen, research Northwind Analytics: hiring in sales and RevOps, funding, recent news and who runs revenue. Put a summary with sources on their company record.

What you getThe Bot quotes the paid searches in credits, runs them after you approve a ceiling, and writes a note with its sources on the company record in OXYGEN's CRM.

  • Build a list

Find Heads of RevOps and VPs of Sales at US B2B SaaS companies with 50 to 500 employees. Show me a free preview, then save the best 200 to a new OXYGEN table.

What you getA free preview shows the first matches and the filters used. Pulling the full list into a table waits for your approval and a credit ceiling, then the Bot returns the table's link.

  • Enrich work emails

Find a verified work email for every row in that table that has none. Quote the cost before you run anything.

What you getThe Bot previews the email waterfall across 17 providers, runs it once you approve a credit ceiling, and you pay only for emails it finds.

  • Draft a multichannel sequence

Draft a sequence for that table: a LinkedIn invite, then two short emails, stopping for anyone who replies. Do not start it.

What you getOXYGEN creates the sequence as an inert draft and renders every step for sample leads, so you read the copy before anything is scheduled. A reply on any channel stops that lead.

  • Launch with a cap

Start the sequence for the first 50 leads, with at most 50 live sends. Show me the launch check first.

What you getThe Bot runs a free launch preview, then asks for your approval with the send cap before it starts. Progress and failures show in the sequence's page in the web app.

  • Update the CRM after a meeting

Northwind booked a demo. Add a note from today's call to their record, create a follow-up task for Friday and pause outreach to the company.

What you getThe note and task land on Northwind's CRM timeline, and messaging to every lead at Northwind pauses in your sequences until you resume it.

  • Work the replies

What replied this week across email and LinkedIn? Group the threads by intent and draft answers for the interested ones.

What you getThe Bot reads OXYGEN's unified inbox, groups the threads and returns drafts for you to edit. Ask it to send only the ones you approve.

What to know before you start

  • We have not yet run OXYGEN's server inside Grok Bot ourselves; it is set up as any other MCP client, so menus may differ from the steps above.
  • OXYGEN's inline table widgets render only on MCP-Apps hosts; in Grok Bot, open the web_url in each result to see the grid.
  • OXYGEN's approval is a parameter the Bot sets after you agree, so keep Grok Bot's Ask first rules on for live steps.
  • Large CSV files do not go through chat; OXYGEN returns an import command to run where its CLI is installed.
  • OXYGEN has no contact database of its own: leads come from data providers on credits, and sending needs a paid plan.
  • LinkedIn automation carries risk to the connected account; keep daily volumes modest.

Frequently asked questions

Can Grok Bot connect to a custom MCP server?

Yes. Grok Bot's Team Bots documentation lists custom MCP servers as plugins of two kinds: Remote HTTPS, which uses the Bot's own credential or each person's OAuth sign-in, and Command, which runs on the Bot's computer. OXYGEN's server is the Remote HTTPS kind at https://oxygen-agent.com/mcp.

Is Grok Bot the same as Grok on grok.com or Grok Build?

No. Grok chat on grok.com adds custom MCP connectors at grok.com/connectors, Grok Build adds them in the terminal with grok mcp add, and Grok Bot adds them as plugins on a Bot. All three can point at the same OXYGEN URL; this page covers Grok Bot.

Does each teammate need their own OXYGEN sign-in on a Team Bot?

Yes, once. Because OXYGEN's server uses OAuth, a Team Bot uses each person's own sign-in, so a BDR's calls run as that BDR in your OXYGEN workspace, with their own access. Nobody borrows the Bot owner's account.

Can I use an API key instead of OAuth?

OXYGEN accepts a CLI API key sent as an Authorization: Bearer header, created with oxygen api-keys create --name "mcp client" --json. Grok Bot treats a key as the Bot's own credential, the same for everyone, so on a Team Bot every teammate would act as the key's owner. Prefer OAuth, and never paste a key into chat.

Will Grok Bot send emails or LinkedIn messages without asking?

OXYGEN refuses to start a sequence, run a paid step or write to an outside system unless the call carries an approval, and paid steps also need a credit ceiling. Add an Ask first rule in Grok Bot's Auto-review settings so you see each of those calls as a card before the Bot makes it.

Can a Grok Bot routine run OXYGEN work on a schedule?

Yes, for read-and-prepare work: checking replies, listing accounts with new signals or refreshing a table, then posting a review list in chat. Approvals raised by a routine expire after about ten minutes, so keep launches, sends and paid enrichment as steps you run while you are there.

What does it cost to run OXYGEN from Grok Bot?

Grok Bot comes with your Cursor, SuperGrok or X Subscription plan. OXYGEN bills per workspace, not per seat: the free plan includes 1,000 credits once, with the CRM, tables and workflows, and paid plans start at $49 a month. Previews are free; paid steps show their price in credits first.

Why not connect each sales tool's own MCP server to Grok Bot instead?

You can. The work is the glue: each server has its own lead record, sign-in, credits and idea of a campaign, so the Bot has to keep IDs in sync, stop LinkedIn steps when someone answers an email and write replies back to the CRM. OXYGEN keeps those in one workspace, and can push leads into Instantly, Smartlead, lemlist and HeyReach campaigns you already run.
