Revenue infrastructure for insurtech startups

Agencies change software roughly never, so timing and credibility beat volume. You need a small, exact list and a reason the principal should care.

try

Independent agencies are a classic long tail. There are tens of thousands of them, most with fewer than ten people, and the difference between a good account and a wasted week is what they write and how many producers write it.

Both facts are published. Agency sites list the lines they carry, the carriers they represent, and usually the team. Reading those pages into columns is what turns a category listing into a list you would actually be willing to call.

Who this is for
Seed to Series A insurance software companies selling to independent agencies, brokers, MGAs, or carriers. Four to fifty people, with founder led revenue.
What it looks like today
Every agency looks the same from outside: a small business with an insurance category code. Lines of business, producer count, and carrier relationships decide fit, and none of them appear in a list you can buy.
What changes
Those facts come off the agency's own website, where they are advertised. The list gets built by line of business and size, and the principal is found before anyone starts a cadence.

Example searches

Ask for it the way you'd say it

Every search below runs on the same hosted Tables, with the cost previewed before anything is spent.

  • By line, not by category

find agencies in ohio whose site advertises commercial and workers compensation lines

Lines of business arrive as an extracted list per row, so a personal lines shop never enters a commercial campaign.

  • Producer count from the team page

count the producers listed on each agency team page and store it as a number

The count and its source page sit together, so an agency that hides its team is visibly unknown rather than zero.

  • The principal, not the office

find the agency owner or principal at each of these agencies with a direct email

Ownership titles vary, so the table records whichever role it resolved instead of forcing one label onto the row.

Plays

Three motions you can run this week

Each one is a chain of Oxygen primitives — the same hosted objects your workspace already has, composed.

  • Segment by line of business

An agency list split by what they actually write, not by a category code.

    1. 1Read each agency site and extract lines carried, carriers, and team size.
    2. 2Band the rows and promote only the segments your product supports.
    oxygen columns add
  • Reach the principal patiently

One owner per agency on a slow cadence that never feels automated.

    1. 1Verify the address, then enroll a short, low volume cadence from your own domain.
    2. 2Handle every reply in the shared inbox and log the outcome on the agency.
    oxygen sequences enroll
  • Keep relationships, not campaigns

Conversations that resume at the next renewal instead of starting over.

    1. 1Log every call, quote conversation, and objection on the agency record.
    2. 2Store renewal timing as a field on the agency and pull the due ones with a filtered record search.
    3. 3Read the funnel summary for stage movement across the segment as a whole.

Capabilities

What you get

  • Segments from public pages

Lines carried, carriers represented, and team size are advertised on agency sites, so the qualifying facts come from the source rather than a category code.

  • A list small enough to be good

Filtering before enrichment keeps the working list to agencies you can genuinely serve, which is what makes a patient cadence affordable to run.

  • History that survives a year

Calls, quotes, objections, and renewal dates attach to the agency, so the next conversation opens exactly where the last one ended.

  • Free to build the segment

Tables, workflows, and drafts cost nothing. Sourcing the long tail, extracting lines from an agency site, and contact lookups draw credits, and sending needs a plan.

Data sources

What the data actually comes from

Every value lands with its provider and cost recorded on the cell.

  • Op

    Open Web Ninja

Local listings by city and category, which is how a long tail of independent agencies gets enumerated.

  • Serper

Search results for agencies that rank on their own site but never registered in a listing.

  • Blitz API

Resolves the agency principal or owner instead of a general quotes inbox.

  • LeadMagic

Adds contacts at the smallest agencies, where the first lane usually comes back empty.

Run these on Oxygen's managed credits, or connect your own provider keys and pay the vendor directly — the same columns, the same runs, the same provenance either way. See every integration.

Limits

Where this stops

  • Carrier appointments are rarely published in full. An agency site names the carriers it wants to advertise, so treat that list as partial and confirm the rest in conversation.

FAQ

Questions people ask first

Agencies never switch software. Is outbound pointless?
Not pointless, just slow. The motion is a small list, an accurate opening, and a record that remembers, so you are in place when a renewal or an acquisition finally forces the decision.
Can we tell which agencies write commercial lines?
From their own marketing, yes. Agencies advertise the lines they want, and extraction turns that into a column. It is a claim rather than a filing, which is usually good enough to qualify a row.
How do we find the owner of a small agency?
The lookup asks for the principal and falls back to whoever runs the business. At this size the owner is often on the team page, and the table records the role it resolved.
Does this work for MGAs and wholesalers too?
Yes, as their own segment. They buy differently, so keep them in a separate table with their own qualifying columns rather than mixing them into a retail agency list.
What about consent around contact data?
Suppression is workspace wide, so an opt out applies across every sequence rather than to one campaign. Every value also keeps the provider and the run that produced it, so when an agency asks to be removed you can see where the record came from and honour it at the source as well.
How many agencies should a first campaign cover?
A few hundred, not thousands. This market rewards accuracy over reach, and a smaller list lets you extract more per agency and write something the principal recognizes as true.
